As an environmental scientist I worked for many years in the Americas. On the Navajo, Pueblo and Salish reservations in the United States I discovered their beliefs in sacred entities and healing ceremonies. Their beliefs and art has greatly influenced my carvings. My work in South America found me in the agricultural fields in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Honduras and Chile. The Andean spirituality beliefs have reinforced the influence of the sacred entities, most notable the condor and hummingbird. The divine spirits of the kami, from Shintoism, has strengthened and supports my beliefs in the influence and protection of kami on our human life.

Over the years, my work also took me to Japan, eastern and western bloc countries – all the while helping businesses and governments meet the demands of regulations and environmental stewardship.

POINT BEING – I have done a lot of travel in my work and as the curious traveler, made it through a lot of uncertain situations and continue to do so – safe travel is my belief in my green beads, more talismans and prayer feathers then I care to count and a true belief in their symbolic and traditional values – and always wear a travel vest.
